Canada’s Net Zero Future: Finding our Way in the Global Transition

Dr. Chris Bataille

Dr. Chris Bataille has been involved in energy and climate policy analysis for 25 years at the Canadian level and 7 years at the global level as a researcher, energy systems and economic modeller, analyst, writer, project manager, and managing consultant/partner. His career has been focused on the transition to a globally sustainable energy system, more recently technology and policy pathways to net-zero GHG emissions by all sectors by 2050-‘70 to meet the Paris Agreements goals in both developed and developing country contexts. He is currently an Associate Researcher at the Institute for Sustainable Development and International Relations in Paris working on the Deep Decarbonization Pathways project, and an Adjunct Professor at Simon Fraser University. Chris is a Lead Author for the Industry Chapter, Technical Summary and Summary for Policymakers of the 6th cycle of the IPCC Assessment Report 2019-2022, and manages an ongoing global project to review technology and policy options for net-zero decarbonization of heavy industrial sectors. Chris is Vancouver based and normally travels regularly for clients.
